STAND UP PADDLE

The Stand Up Paddle (SUP) is an ancient form of gliding in which the navigator uses a paddle to navigate the water while standing on a surfboard.

The SUP although it may seem a sport within the world of canoeing is one of the oldest forms of surfing, whose roots are found in the Polynesian villages where it was used as a means of displacement. The Hawaiian translation is Ku Hoe He'e Nalu; To stand, to paddle, to sail a wave.

In SUP it is possible to paddle in the open sea, in the ports, in lakes, rivers or in any great mass of water, which allows us to enjoy different landscapes and different states of the aquatic environment, with the uncertainty that this entails. One of its advantages is the visibility angle. Due to the height and bipedal position on the water you can see both the bottom and the whole surface of the water, which allows a better visualization of the aquatic characteristics that otherwise we would not be able to see.

Another of the advantages of this sport is that by choosing the best conditions can be practiced by all types of people from the earliest age to the most veteran, being an excellent way to improve our physical condition and keep us healthy. All of its variants can be made from windless, windy, windy, windy, winding trails, circuits with changes of direction, turns or simply relax for stretching and relaxation or just for sunbathing, so you can have a more active or not.

SUP ADVANTAGES

The fact that this sport is practiced on an unstable surface and requires a propulsion by means of a lever (rowing) with repetitive movements that generate a force applied to the water and that need for it of the implication of all the musculature of our body make this physical activity one of the most complete we can find.

In SUP the work of CORE (stability / trunk / posture) is masked; This means that without realizing it, the SUP will be enhancing the trunk muscles and the natural reflexes of the balance, noting great benefits on the ground after few workouts. In addition, this special demand for CORE muscles, generate extra calorie expenditure independent of the paddling pace.

In general, an adequate and balanced middle zone (CORE) will involve:

- Correct stabilization of the body so that the arms and legs can perform any movement taking as support this muscle and forms a muscle chain transmitting forces between legs and arms.
- Improve movement efficiency.
- Improve balance and coordination.
